  • About the event

The Endless Mountains Adventure Race is an ultimate test in endurance, pushing 30-40 teams to find their physical, mental, and emotional limits in a premier expedition race in the remote PA Wilds region of Pennsylvania.

Rootstock Racing is a 501(c)3 adventure race promotion company. We have been hosting events since 2015 and designing and directing events since 2010. We have directed events ranging from two-hour family races to 36-hour, nonstop adventure races serving as a qualifier for the National Championship. Our race directors and race team are two-time national champions and one of the most active, experienced, and well-known American teams on the international adventure race circuit. Rootstock Racing has emerged as a leader in our sport, and we have been involved in working with the United States Adventure Racing Association, the Women in Adventure Racing initiative, and various other programs aimed at fostering new racers and bringing awareness to DEI issues within our community.

For 2022, we are harnessing 30 years of shared experience racing across the world to design an epic, non-stop 5-day race on foot, mountain bike, canoe, and packraft across a 350+ mile course. Teams of 2-4 will race around the clock, day and night to reach the finish line. The ultimate test of teamwork and perseverance, competitors must navigate the course using only map and compass, battling against the elements, encountering wildlife and working together to reach the finish line.

Thousands of spectators from across the globe will chime in over the course of the week to follow the teams along using live-tracking web-based mapping technology while also following along with our social media stream as we report on the race and the experiences of all teams involved, not just those competing for the win. For a handful of teams, they will be competing for the podium. For the rest, they will be undertaking an epic journey of self-discovery and exploration among the woods, mountains, and rivers of rugged Pennsylvania. Simply getting to the finish line will be an accomplishment of a lifetime.

    Why should you sponsor?

Unlike a traditional running, biking, or triathlon style event that might attract thousands of competitors, expedition-style adventure races are far smaller in scale. These are unique events, events that are about community, events that are incredibly logistically challenging.

Our competitors are traveling in remote, wilderness environments, around the clock, rain or shine. Safety management is critical, and race fields are therefore small. We anticipate having 100-150 competitors lining up at the start line but thousands more following along using satellite tracking technology and multi-media social media coverage.

To offer the racers all the support deserving of a premier event, we rely on the support of sponsors like you, who can help us to support our racers, prepare for safety management, and to take care of our amazing volunteers who will staff the transition areas on the race course and be on call 24 hours a day for five straight days.

The average adventure racer tends to be older and deeply established in their career path. Supporting this event is an opportunity to connect with thousands of outdoor enthusiasts with substantial disposable income and introduce them to or reinforce the value of your product.

Finally, this is an opportunity to support an event that is truly unique and life changing for all those who choose to immerse themselves in the adventure racing world and community. More than your standard road or trail race, these races are true journeys. Journeys through the wilderness, yes, but, more importantly, journeys into the unknown, in which competitors realize they are capable of so much more than they can possibly imagine, learning lessons about themselves and their teammates that they will apply to their work, families, and other relationships long after they cross the finish line.

We look forward to partnering with you to offer our participants the complete experience they truly deserve.

    Brent Freedland

Rootstock Racing is a 501(c)3 nonprofit event promotion company based out of Philadelphia. We seek to promote enjoyment of nature, adventure sports, teamwork, and physical and mental challenges through adventure races, trail runs, and other unique adventure-sport events. Co-founders Brent Freedland and Abigail Perkiss founded Rootstock Racing in 2015, though they have been directing races for over a decade.

The Rootstock Racing team has directed and raced in the sport of adventure racing at the highest level, and we bring this experience to our race-directing. As racers, we have won the USARA National Championship twice (2017 and 2018), we have been the top ranked team in the nation two times (2017 and 2018), and we have been ranked as high as eighteenth in the world. As race directors, we have designed events ranging from a two-hour family focused event to 36-hour adventure races that serve as qualifiers for the USARA National Championship.

Our primary goals are to get participants out into the woods and to explore new parks, forests, and other recreational land. We design courses that challenge racers and take them on a journey of discovery: the discovery of the hidden gems our amazing natural resources have to offer, and the self-discovery that comes from working with teammates to overcome the unique mental and physical challenges our sport offers. We seek to prioritize the small, communal, grassroots feel of adventure racing events while also giving our participants a premier experience with support that starts long before race week.

Support from sponsors like you reinforces our committment to our racers and also allows us to provide more support for them during race week. We hope you will consider partnering with one of the most well-respected race promotion companies in the sport.
