About the event
KAPE will be hosting Digging Up A Cure, a unique event designed to raise awareness of the challenges children with genetic disorders face, understand differences, to highlight abilities and educate the community about inclusion/empathy while having a exciting time
This family centered event will feature a “Texas”-sized dirt filled digging area where guest may dig for eduactional post cards and prize cards , a sensory center, a book giveaway from various books like " We're All Wonders" and " I Am Human", guest speakers Heather Avis, author of " The Lucky Few" and Billy Price, creator of Billy Footwear, along with live music, food and exciting prizes.
This event is inspired by my son Knox.
Knox was diagnosed with a very rare chromosome disorder, MYT1L syndrome. So rare that when he was diagnosed in February 2018, he was only the 25th known case worldwide. Making him only the fourth case in the United States and the first in his home state of Texas. This means Knox's doctors will learn about MYT1L syndrome from Knox himself! We are very proud and excited to walk this unique journey with Knox and witness first hand all of his victories and triumphs.
Why should you sponsor?
KAPE , is a veteran founded, 501(c)3 Non-Profit organization dedicated to delivering spaces, events, and resources for empowering and inspiring kids and parents to be a better version of themselves, while remaining a pillar for community development.
Not only do we host events, we provide opportunities for families to connect in hopes that as a community we can learn from one another no matter your background. This continuous journey requires the support from our sponsors and ticket sales, but YOU can play a part by partnering with our organization.
We are so grateful for the amazing community support and feedback we have been showered with thus far. Now, you can truly play a tangible role in helping us to continue our effort by financially partnering with us today. We hope you would consider this incredible opportunity
After serving 6 years in the Air Force in Belgium and Guam, I decided I wanted to serve my city (Houston) and state (Texas). After being directly affected by Hurricane Harvey, I now know what it is like to watch a community come together for good. I also know that there were moments when I needed my spirits lifted.
We have a goal of lifting up both the city of Houston and The Woodlands by hosting events at the highest quality so every child, parent, and community member can experience and celebrate education, creativity, and thrive as one .
