About the event

The Detroit Women of Comedy Festival is a four-day event celebrating women through comedy and diversity.  The festival will feature stand up, improv, sketch comedy, podcasts, workshops, live music and much more.

The main goal of DWCF is to give back to the community through art.  Proceeds of the festival will be donated to two organizations, Girls Rock Detroit and The Detroit Creativity Project.  Both of these programs are geared at helping at-risk youth gain confidence to nurture a healthier future.

Our inaugural festival in 2018 featured over 150 performers and over 2000 audience members through the 4-day event.  We know that with your sponsorship we can make this year even better so that we can continue to help Detroit grow and thrive.

Why should you sponsor?

Our mission is to give women in comedy a spotlight while tackling serious issues that women face.  DWCF holds an annual summit during the festival were women can gather to share experiences and find creative solutions to the problems they face in the industry.

However, this is much more than a festival to us.  It is a movement.  We feel that in order to make the future brighter for women, we need to focus on helping the youth.  

This is why 100% of our proceeds go to charity.  Our two selected organizations, Girls Rock Detroit and The Detroit Creativity Project are both programs that help to teach at-risk youth skills like playing guitar and learning improv.  Because these children don't have regular access to art and music programs, organizations like these and vital to our community.

Also, through your sponsorship, you will receive a ton of advertising perks that includes social media blasts and printed ads in our programs and posters.  Because Planet Ant Theater is a 501(c)(3c) non-profit, all sponsorship donations are tax deductible. 

Kate Holmes

My name is Kate Holmes and I am the Co-Producer of The Detroit Women of Comedy Festival and the Co-Chair of the governing board for DWCF under Planet Ant Theater.

I am a Detroit comedian, improviser, writer and a full-time mother.  I started The Detroit Women of Comedy Festival because I wanted to shine a light of issues that women in the entertainment industry face.  Also, as a mother to a young daughter, I wanted to show her that women have power and a voice and how we use it is up to us.

However, I did not do any of this alone.  I have an amazing board of 10 women and 1 man who volunteers to work tirelessly to help make our event a success.
