Martial Arts tournament for Students in Tae Kwon Do and Brazilian Jiujitsu in the Brownsville and the Rio Grande Valley. We are the only tournament that offers both Tae Kwon Do and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu in one event.

Dear Community,

We are reaching out to our Community to help us raise funds to support our Annual Martial Arts Tournament. We strive to bring the most professional and cost effective means for competition in the South Texas Region for Tae Kwon Do and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. The biggest problems students face when finding avenues for competition is travel distance where most tournaments happen anywhere outside the valley or South Texas, and the actual expense of the competition, which could be upwards of $100 dollars per division. We have solved both those objections, by providing a tournament here in Brownsville and at a very modest price of $30 per division, while still maintaining high standards of professionalism and expertise.

Please help us continue our efforts by supporting our annual tournament. As a small business we depend on the generosity of our community to commit to such a momentous task. All our Adult students and Parents help our tournament by volunteering and support our fundraisers, but as we grow, so do our expenses. Nicer awards, a bigger facility with safer parking, to more safety equipment are all part of our plans. 

Thanks to all the schools that have believed in our vision, we have steadily grown from doing tournaments in our own school to now needing a full gym.  What once started with a tournament servicing mostly Brownsville and McAllen residents now attracts competitors from as far as Corpus Christie, San Antonio, and Austin. This means a greater reach to help students and competitors find a extremely positive, healthy and active lifestyle. Though our competition is one day, it means countless of hours training and preparation time that benefits our community as a whole.

On behalf of Galvan’s Martial Arts, our Instructors, our Parents, and students, we would like to invite you to our Competition to see what we do as a Family to Positively Impact Lives. Our tournament will be held at the Brownsville Sports Park Dome 1000 Sports Park Blvd, Olmito, TX 78575 on Saturday June 23^rd starting at 10am. We will have both Tae Kwon Do and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu under one roof which is very hard to accomplish but with everyone’s help we know we will succeed.

I started martial arts at the age of 3, at 14 i started teaching at my instructors school,  we now have a small school in Brownsville, TX. that will turn 15 years old this year. I have been in the Martial Arts my whole life, Holding several black belts and teaching certificates. Apart from being an avid competitor I have went to school and have learned from other tournament directors on how to run a tournament. 

My main priority is offering a low cost, but professional tournament as an outlet to positive competition for all students.
