About the event

Since 1999 Bishops Stortford Music Festival has been providing a stage for local talent. The Global Superstar Sam Smith was a pupil at St Mary’s School and one of his early performances was at our festival. The fledgling careers of George Ezra & Charli XCX also saw them on our stage.

Whilst a few have gone on to fame and fortune the true aim of the festival is to encourage the participation and enjoyment of music. Whether it is the opportunity to perform in a professional setting, or the chance to be in the audience to enjoy the diverse range of music and entertainment on offer our festival truly brings the community together.

Stortford Music Festival is run entirely by volunteers who all share a passion for music and for working together for free for the benefit of their local community.  Wherever possible we source our suppliers, retailers and food stalls from our local area supporting and promoting local businesses.

It is truly a family occasion with all generations finding something for them, from the fun and games in the kid’s tent, to the bar manned by an army of great volunteers. During the event you will find families and the community coming together, and when it’s all over they can’t wait to come back together again next year.

This past year we have been overwhelmed by the response of the community who via the local newspaper’s appeal they pledged money to ensure that we can hold this 2 day festival again this year. We believe that the support and solidarity that was displayed then will mirror itself over the 2 days benefitting the community in partaking in the enjoyment of a shared experience.

Why should you sponsor?

Our festival can provide free marketing and advertising for local businesses via our social media and promotional avenues such as via the local newspaper, flyers, posters etc and if visitors also post comments and photos about their experiences on Facebook or other social media, so much the better. The economic benefits of successful festivals ripple throughout a local economy. 

Past sponsors David Lee & Personal Property Shop have cited being involved with the festival as being directly responsible for sales.

I have attended the Stortford Music Festival for the past 15 years and am passionate about what they do and have always felt priveleged that we have such a communty event on our doorstep.

I have been volunteering as a commitee member for the past 5 years and even though I can see the event coming together, with all its pitfalls, I am still astounded that so few people can put together such a brilliant event.
