Beauty in the Backyard 2018


Creative Arts Retreat centered around re-connecting: with each-other, ourselves and nature.

 

Beauty in the Backyard is a transformational, 3-day, 2-night experience featuring collaborative arts, yoga, potlucks, camping, workshops, team games and activities conducive to conversation on a beautiful 200-acre property in Darlington, Maryland.

We are all connected virtually, but lost interpersonally. According to an Arizona University study, the number of Americans with no close friends has tripled since 1985. The most common number reported is "Zero". 25% of Americans said they had no close friends, which has tripled since 1985.

That is why we create experiences to (re)meet a basic human need: connection

Studies have shown that through interactive creative arts experiences, people are able to make deeper connections at a faster rate.

That's why We create in-person experiences to help the world’s largest generation make meaningful connections.

Our mission is to connect and inspire a purpose-driven community to act and live more sustainably through creative arts experiences.

We are building a strong community of mindful people and sustainable organizations, with more than 75% of people coming to more than one experience.

Our audience is considered highly desirable, the millennial generation is the largest generation ever, and makes up 1/3 of the US. Aged 18-34, 9/10 of millennials have attended at least one live event in the past 12 months, since 75% of millennials value experience over things.

$23 billion was spent on event sponsorships in the last year, the average sponsorship being $12,500. Companies spend so much on events because of how effective it is to market to happy people. And Millennial spending on entertainment is over $190 Billion/year, just in the us.

We expect 500-1,000 people to attend, 75 artists, 20 vendors and 4-7 local and national media channels including pBS, uDaily and Town SquareDelaware. Ourcommunityismadeupof54%femaleand41% male, with the highest concentration between 22-27 between NC and MA.

Ramblewood has an increbdile reputation already, and with the team we have, support and mentorship, we are well equipped to make this event a success. And we hope to grow with our sponsors as well, as we believe strongly in making and maintianing genuine human relationships.

Hi! I'm Davis.

I'm a Entrepreneurship student at the University of Delaware,also studying Chinese. I love to read, play music, and cooking for my family and friends.

After taking a sabbatical from school to work, I returned to win an award and scholarship form Horn Entrepreneurship, demonstrating my passion, drive, charisma and entrepreneurial promise. Both of my parents were entrepreneurs, both of their parents were entrepreneurs, and I've worked in my family's business my entire life, so I know the ins and outs of entrepreneurship.

But, making money isn't the end, it's a means. I want to impact the world in a universally beneficial way, and the way to do that is by creating our own path.

Entrepreneurship is a mindset and a process, and running a company sustainably is part of that process. I have been studying entrepreneurship for the past four years, helped launch more than a couple, a few of which are still successful (Carvertise, LendEDU, Lyapunov Technologies, Blue Hen Dental, AndAgainCo., TenantU, and more from the Horn Entreprenurship program).

Entrepreneurship is simply solving problems. Through evidence-based-entrepreneurship (EBE), we are trained how to identify the problem, validate that problem and find and validate a possible solution with the customer the entire time, around their needs, not based on projections but hundreds of real interviews with our early evangelists. All of this is recorded using the Business Model Canvas and Steve Blank's LEAN startup methodology.

I know how to run a startup, lead a team, and generate cash flow. With your sponsorship money, our success will be expedited, and your company will come with us. Our additional funds will be spent on in-person marketing on college campuses utilizing our Street Team on campuses across DC, MD, VA, WV, PA, DE, NJ and NY, as well as college students in Mettā Clubs at UD and Elon, since this is the most effective form of marketing.

We will also be able to spend more on decoratioins, interactive art installments and other engaging activites to enhance the experience and create more of a lasting impression on our attendees.
