About the event
Chimo will be hosting our flagship annual event, Answer the Call; Dinner and Show; on October 5, 2017 at the Delta Fredericton starting at 6:30pm. This will be a three course meal followed by comedian Marshall Button. Our goal is to create a fun and memorable event to keep our supporters coming back year after year!
Why should you sponsor?
Chimo Helpline is the province’s only crisis and suicide prevention phone line, accessible 24 hours, 365 days a year to all residents of New Brunswick. For the past 45 years, we have offered free, confidential and bilingual service to everyone regardless of social or economic barriers. We take pride in our ability to help individuals during some of their darkest times. We help by providing a listening ear, helpful information, crisis intervention and referrals.
Chimo is committed to promoting and maintaining a high quality helpline in the face of increased demand for our services. Last year, we receive over 12,000 calls. Out of those calls, some went unanswered primarily because the phone Intervener was already engaged with another caller. This is further exacerbated as we have been experience an average 20% increase in call volume annually for the past three years. We are continuously looking for ways to financially meet the rise in expenses associated with operating the helpline. Your Sponsorship would give us the opportunity to increase staffing levels on weekday evenings resulting in a 60% reduction in missed calls.
