  • About the event

"The Night Under the Stars in Brooklyn Gala" is a fundraising gala for the New York City Brooklyn Youth Council Corporation (NYBYC). The NYBYC is a non for profit 501c3 organization which was created to focus its resources in the area of poverty, education and the welfare sector. We associate with both local and international government services to community residents that are in need of assistance but do not know how to access them. The NYBYC works closely with fatih based and community organizations to enhence services to underprivilaged residents of City Line, Cypress Hills, and East New York, Brooklyn.

    Why should you sponsor?

The funds raised by this event will support our programs  of the NYBYC which includes the collaboration of the Farmers Market, the Kenya Project, the Youth Assistance, Senior Citizen HUB, Community Program, and Community Initiative. These programs were implemented to provide community assistance and funds raised at this event will directly impact these programs.

The Kenya Project is a international project, where we focused on how 60% of the Kenyan females cannot afford sanitary pads. This became a huge issue for many families in the rural areas in the country. Due to this issue, about 20% of young schoolgirls dropped out of school because they could not afford the access of sanitary pads.

Through this project President Uhuru Kenyan signed the amendment to the education act which states that every girl registered at school must receive a free, sufficient and quality sanitary towels. The government will also provide a safe and environmental sound mechanism for disposal.

    Roopesh Ramjit

Roopesh Ramjit, currently serving as the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the New York City Brooklyn Youth Council Corporation. An enthusiastic and determined public servant, I have fought to improve the lives of thousands of teens at home and abroad.  In 2010, I was nominated by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz to serve as Brooklyn’s Youth Council Member, representing his peers. During his tenure in this position, I frequently advocated for better policies on youth-related issues and concerns. Prior to my career with the New York City Council, I served as the District Administrator for New York State Assembly Member Rafael L. Espinal, Jr. of the 54th Assembly district. Through non-profit, I have been able to positively impact the lives of many young adults by advocating for additional education resources.Throughout the execution of my social duties I have demonstrated that advanced age is not a prerequisite for the proper execution of wisdom and good judgment. I am currently, a member of several non-governmental organizations (NGOs), including He4She, The United Nations’ NextGen, The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), and Amnesty USA. In  my capacity as a UNA-USA Member of the United Nations Associations of the United States of America, I have  advocated for additional funding and more access to youth programs around the world.
