About the event

This show is to gain awareness for Apraxia. Apraxia is “a motor speech disorder. Children with CAS have problems saying sounds, syllables, and words. This is not because of muscle weakness or paralysis. The brain has problems planning to move the body parts (e.g., lips, jaw, tongue) needed for speech. The child knows what he or she wants to say, but his/her brain has difficulty coordinating the muscle movements necessary to say those words.” (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, http://www.asha.org/public/speech/disorders/ChildhoodApraxia/, 1997-2017)

    Optical Illusions Auto Club will host the show. It started last year with the President and VP of OIAC. His daughter has been diagnosed with Apraxia for about two years and he is doing anything he can to raise awareness. Now the show has grown and the group is now behind them 100%. This year is already bigger and better than last year! Last year we had a turnout of about 170 cars and would love to double that number this year! We have filled our vendor spots and have a decent amount of raffle items already. All money collected from car show entrants and vendors will go directly to The Childhood Apraxia of Speech Association (Casana). “The Childhood Apraxia of Speech Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit publicly funded charity whose mission is to strengthen the support systems in the lives of children with apraxia so that each child is afforded their best opportunity to develop speech and communication. Why should you sponsor?

    A sponsorship would be an amazing thing to receive! There are very few costs to running this show because the people we have helping us are either donating their time or are giving us a good discount. However, there are still some costs for the show i.e. trophies. Anything helps! As much money from sponsor money collected will go to Casana as possible; the only money taken out will only be used for the show i.e. trophies, signs, etc. A sponsorship would mean that we could have an amazing show to raise awerness for this silent disorder!

I am trying to help out our group find someone who can help us pull the events odds and ends together. I am a single mom and I know how it is to want better for your child. Especially to make this world a better place for them. The little girl that sparked this event is loving and amazing! All children and people afftected by Apraxia have such a big heart! So please if you can, please help us sponsor this event so that we can have the best show to spread the awerness of Apraxia!
