About the event

SUBJECT: 16th KARNATAKA STATE WUSHU CHAMPIONSHIP

PROJECT: Organising Wushu (Chinese Martial Arts/Kung Fu), State Level Junior and Senior Championship at Bengaluru City.

WUSHU: Wushu is both an exhibition and a full-contact sport derived from traditional Chinese martial arts. It was developed in China after 1949, in an effort to standardize the practice of traditional Chinese martial arts. In contemporary times, wushu has become an international sport through the International Wushu Federation (IWUF), which holds the World Wushu Championships every two years. Wushu is a sport included in Asian Games and efforts to be included in Olympic games is underway. Wushu has gained popularity in India with Indian Athletes winning various International Competitions and also being awarded the prestigious Arjuna Award in sports. (Year 2012 - M. Bimoljit Singh and Year 2015 Yumnam Sanathoi Devi).

Competitive wushu is composed of two disciplines: Taolu (Exhibition Form) and sanda (Sparring/Fighting)

1. TAOLU: Athletes perform a pre-choreographed steps to demonstrate different fighting styles with weapons as well as bare hands..

2. SANSHOU (Full Contact Fighting)

We, at Bengaluru District South Zone Wushu are happy to inform that Karnataka Wushu Association (headed by Mr. Ashok D Mokashi), has given us the responsibility to organise the 16th Karnataka State Wushu Championship at Bengaluru anywhere between April 1st, 2017 to May 10th, 2017.  This will be the first time this wonderful and powerful martial arts competition will be held in Bengaluru.  Athletes from different Districts of Karnataka will be participating where the top performers will be select for Nationals and National Games to be held in 2017.

We at Bengaluru Districtu South Zone Wushu are seeking help to organise this competition at the top notch level and support the athletes to perform better in their upcoming National and International Competitions.
